Focus on the Core Problem

For the section on advice for young women who aspire to be entrepreneurs or who have already embarked on their entrepreneurial journey, focusing on the problem statement and exploring various solutions is paramount. Here's a concise and impactful way to convey this advice:The most critical piece of advice I'd share with young women entering the entrepreneurial world is to deeply understand the problem you're passionate about solving. This clarity on the 'why' behind your venture is your compass. It guides you through the tumultuous journey of entrepreneurship, where the path may shift based on learnings and external circumstances, but the core objective remains unchanged. Focus intensely on your problem statement. Spend time with it, explore it from all angles, and become the expert on why it exists and how it affects those involved. This foundation will not only fuel your passion but also ensure that the solutions you develop are both impactful and innovative. Remember, the journey of solving a significant problem is filled with trials and errors. Be open to pivoting and adapting your strategies as you gain insights and feedback. However, always keep your problem statement at the heart of what you do. This unwavering focus will guide you through challenges, help you make informed decisions, and ensure that your passion remains ignited. By committing to a problem and being relentless in your pursuit of solving it, you'll build a venture that not only succeeds in the market but also makes a meaningful difference in the world. Stay passionate, stay focused, and let the problem you're solving be the beacon that guides your entrepreneurial journey.

Reframe Challenges as Advantages

I’d recommend shifting your mindset, because your experience all comes down to perception. Being a woman in a leadership position can feel lonely, exclusionary, or intimidating - but you can reframe it into an advantage instead. Standing out makes you more memorable, for one. You can also look around and see the difference you’re adding by being visible, and being present, which is rewarding in itself. I’d also recommend embracing every step of the journey, even if it doesn’t seem major. Small in size does not mean small in impact. Find moments of joy and continually seek out what makes you happy.

Value Your Role and Self-Belief

Always believe in yourself and know that you're worth the opportunity which arises. You are on this journey for a reason and it is you, who was chosen to lead the development of the company, industry transformation, team development or fixing the customer pain. Your role as a female entrepreneur is crucial so do not give up when the first hurdle come.

Monica Oravcova, Founder, Naoris Protocol

Trust Founders’ Advice

Never give up, and never listen to anyone who isn't already a Founder or has gone through an accelerator program.... and watch out for people who will push you out of control of your company.

Heather Neff, Founder, Equivalent

Trust Your Instincts

Listen to as much advice as you wish, but always trust your instinct when making the decisions. No-one knows your business & your customers like you do.

Lindsay Dow, Founder, Lindsay Does Languages

Challenge the Status Quo

There must always be a first - don't let yourself be deterred by sentences such as "this won't work" or "this has never worked"

Sarah Mittiga, Founder, scaliify

Believe, Learn, and Stay Connected

Believe in yourself. Don’t give up just because you have setbacks. You don’t need to know everything to get started. Trust that you will find ways to figure it out as you go along. Never stop learning and seeking advice from those who know more than you. Take care of those who take care of you. Stay connected with those who believe in you. You can feed off their love and support when times get through-the path to success is not straight up. Go out there and follow your heart and dreams. Anything s possible if you believe in yourself!
