Believe in Yourself and Keep Learning

Consistency and Resilience

For women aspiring to be or who are already entrepreneurs, embracing consistency is crucial. The entrepreneurial journey is a long road. It's about showing up every day, ready to face whatever comes your way with determination and commitment to your vision. This consistency is what eventually leads to significant rewards and successful outcomes. It's the compound effect of daily efforts that turn ambitious goals into reality. Regarding gender, it's essential to focus on your identity as an entrepreneur first. Your gender should not define your capabilities or your potential in the business world. However, it can be a source of strength and a unique perspective that you bring to your venture. Use your position to empower and uplift other women, creating a supportive network that fosters success and innovation. But in the day-to-day grind, remember that you are an entrepreneur who just happens to be a woman, competing on equal footing with everyone else in the ecosystem. Patience and resilience are your most valued qualities as an entrepreneur. The road to building a successful business is fraught with challenges, setbacks, and failures. These are not indicators of defeat but opportunities for growth, learning, and pivoting towards better strategies. Resilience will help you navigate through tough times, while patience will give you the strength to persevere when immediate results aren’t visible.

Overcome Limiting Beliefs

The biggest limitation to your success is your own limiting beliefs. Anything is possible when you dream big and work hard.

Foster Genuine Self-Belief

As a mentor for the Bloom Programme, coaching women towards an entrepreneurial mindset at Oxford Brookes Enterprise Support, I am deeply committed to giving back and supporting fellow women entrepreneurs. My passion lies in assisting women overcome barriers, particularly those related to mindset, which may impede their progress. My primary advice centers on fostering genuine self-belief—not merely surface-level confidence, but a profound sense of self-efficacy rooted in the understanding of one's own capabilities and competencies. My journey into this mindset began years ago, and while I may have been perceived as self-assured from the outside, it is only through significant self-work that I have become grateful, inspired, and motivated which has consequently impacted positively on my entrepreneurial journey. I aim to instil these empowering qualities in other women, guiding them towards realizing their full potential.

Carve Your Unique Path

My primary counsel to aspiring female entrepreneurs is to surround themselves with inspiring women, absorb valuable advice, yet carve their own unique path. Emphasize continuous learning, as growth is perpetual!

Cat Bones, Founder, Bones Financial Management

Everything is Figureoutable

Go for it! Something we say often is that everything is 'figuareoutable'. You don't need a business degree, you just need to be willing to learn and grow.

Jessica and Rhaelyn, Founder, Mintier

Embrace Diversity and Persevere

For young women aspiring to be entrepreneurs or those already navigating the entrepreneurial path, I'd offer a few pieces of advice based on my experiences. Firstly, embrace your unique perspective and strengths as a woman in the business world — diversity is a powerful asset. Secondly, don't be deterred by self-doubt or societal expectations. You are smart, capable, and deserving of success. Seek out mentors and a supportive network; their guidance can be invaluable. Be courageous in taking calculated risks, and view challenges as opportunities for growth. Finally, persevere. Entrepreneurship is a journey with ups and downs, but staying resilient, true to your vision, and continuously learning will pave the way for both personal and professional fulfillment.

Trust Your Instincts

You have all of the answers; find a quiet space so you can hear them. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. You can have a successful business with much less than you think.
