Take Action Daily

Despite more than two decades of experience, I'm no "old-school" thinker, as I currently spend A LOT of my professional time working on and with platforms like Canva, MailChimp, Teams, Google Workspace, Upwork, multiple grant databases, Zoom, HubSpot, and many others.

Own Your Failures and Success

I believe that it's important for young women to have a drive and passion for their work. My drive and passion for my work keep me going. Being an entrepreneur is hard work, and finding a life balance is even more difficult, so my best advice is to know when it's time to release control and figure out what you can outsource. Enlisting help in the areas you're not strong in doesn't make you weak; it makes you stronger because you learn.

Lindsay Feldman, Founder, BrandBomb PR

Dedicate Yourself to Passion

my advice to young women is to speak out and speak up and help a fellow sister, we rise by lifting others

Iris Z N Mhlanga, Founder, Nozizwe Mother Of Nations Trust

Trust Yourself and Your Work

As women, we are bound to undervalue our work and second-guess our thoughts, beliefs, and passion. People around us compel us to believe that we are not worthy enough. However, my journey thus far has taught me that we need to trust ourselves, be our support systems, and firmly believe in our work because only this strong belief will help us navigate the storms and see our dreams and passions coming to life.

Dr Anubha Mahajan, Founder, Chronic Pain India

Confidence and Resilience Matter

Young women aspiring to be entrepreneurs should start by believing in themselves and pursuing work that fuels their passion. Embrace failure as a learning tool, build a supportive network, and be willing to take calculated risks. Prioritize self-care to maintain balance, continuously learn and adapt, and advocate for your worth. Resilience is key in navigating the inevitable ups and downs, and paying it forward by empowering others helps build a legacy. Staying true to your vision with persistence and determination can lead to lasting impact and success.

Embrace Uniqueness and Persist

Becoming an entrepreneur isn’t easy, it’s challenging not only to your professional life but your personal life get’s a massive hit and you need to open to that. Once I began to learn, listen and embrace change – this ultimately changed my way of thinking and lifestyle. I disappeared for 6 months, worked my ass off, prioritized my needs, wants and goals and that was the foundation and step to building a successful and innovative business. Take the chance. Embrace the challenges. Be kind and patient to yourself and ultimately work your ass off.

CAROLINE COCHRANE, Founder, COCO SOCIALS

Trust Your Gut

Read Sonya's book, The Nudge! Over the years many people have come to her for business advice and coaching, and she to help as many people as possible, she has put all her knowledge in a no-nonsense, easy-to-read business manual. Some key takeaways: Sail your own course. Don't compare yourself to the competition. Be unique! Be an innovator, not an imitator. Always be ethical. Check your motivation, and do everything with a good heart because it all comes back. Be a giver! The more you give, the more you will receive in every way. Believe in Your Success

For aspiring women entrepreneurs, self-belief, mentorship, and networking are essential foundations. Embrace learning and resilience, viewing failures as opportunities to grow. Prioritize self-care to sustain well-being and build a diverse team to enhance creativity and decision-making. Know your worth, confidently negotiate, and let your values guide your business choices. These principles foster success and sustainability in the entrepreneurial journey.

Keep Going with Intuition

As Shiwali Ratan Mishra, my advice to young women entrepreneurs is straightforward: first, believe in yourself and set clear goals. It's important to use your unique perspective to spot opportunities and innovate in ways others might not see. Building a strong network is crucial; surround yourself with mentors and peers who can provide both support and perspective. Commit to lifelong learning to stay ahead in today's fast-evolving business landscape. Being adaptable is key—don't be afraid to adjust your approach based on new insights or market changes. Develop resilience. Every entrepreneur faces setbacks, but learning from these and moving forward is what will set you apart. Focus on understanding and meeting your clients' needs—this will help build a sustainable business. Maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life; it's essential for long-term success. And finally, be bold in pursuing your vision. Set ambitious goals and work diligently towards them, with a clear plan and a passion for what you do. This approach has not only guided me in my career but also helped me build a globally-reaching firm.

Shiwali Ratan Mishra, Founder, Discover WebTech Pvt. Ltd

Focus and Leverage Womanhood

My advice to young women who want to be entrepreneurs or already are is to always keep focus on your why. If that why changes you have to reassess your path and quickly correct. It will be difficult but put things in place that will help you to quickly shift your mental space when you are taken advantage of or treated unfairly. Pick your battles wisely, always with your end goal in mind, as not all battles are meant to be fought by you. And lastly, your womanhood is a super power that people will try to dim, never do that.

Melissa Powell, Founder, Pocmi, Inc.

Unique Perspective and Empathy

For young women aspiring to be entrepreneurs, my foremost advice is to embrace your unique perspective and experiences; they are invaluable in identifying opportunities and solutions others might overlook. It's crucial to find a cause you are passionate about—this will sustain your motivation even through tough times. Networking is indispensable; it opens doors to resources, mentorship, and potential business opportunities. Never underestimate the importance of building a support network of trusted advisors and peers. Additionally, learn to balance assertiveness with empathy—being a leader involves both making tough decisions and understanding the needs of your team. Lastly, prioritise your well-being. The journey of entrepreneurship is marathonic, not a sprint; maintaining your health, both mental and physical, ensures you have the stamina to pursue your goals long-term.

Follow Your Dream

One mantra – follow your dream and believe in yourself!

Alka Bagga, Founder, Critical Mission Computing Ltd

Fearless Pursuit of Passion

I've always wanted to do something that mattered with my life. It took me many years and many careers to find what that was. Originally I studied Environmental Science and Political Science in college thinking I would go into environmental law. I served for over 3 years in the US Peace Corps extending agroforestry techniques in rural Senegal. I worked for the USDA supporting the agency in their efforts to manage wildlands and improve and advance agriculture in our country. In all of those I wanted more. I wanted to feel like I was helping my community. Now, as the owner of Pub 6T5 and Rustico not only do I get to create joyful dining experiences but I am able to use my platform to influence good in my community. Environmental awareness is not high where I am. I have made a point to educate my customers and staff and show them that running a business while also making progress toward sustainability is possible. We introduced compostable straws, get rid of all plastic water bottles and removed plastic takeout bags. We source our products from local small farms whenever possible. We intentionally bring in products from companies that give to vital charities. I love the opportunity running a restaurant and interacting with so many people has provided me to share why how something is made matters just as much as how it tastes.

Jessica Moore, Founder, Pub 6T5 and Rustico

Self-Belief and Balance

Becoming an entrepreneur can be a rewarding yet challenging journey, especially for young women who may face unique obstacles. Believe in yourself, find a mentor, network correctly and actively, continue learning, have a business plan, embrace technology, understand your finances, stay resilient, know how to balance work and self care, build a strong brand, be adaptable, stay true to yourself, and stay true to your values.
