Ariadne Dulchinos is the co-founder and CTO of Avenir AI, an AI service company that is transforming the employee benefits industry by helping employers and brokers make smarter healthcare decisions—reducing costs while improving access to care for employees.

Founded in 2025 and based in San Francisco, USA, Avenir AI operates in the $1T+ employee benefits market, serving CFOs, Heads of Total Rewards, and benefits brokers. The company acts as an "AI employee" that sits on top of internal and external data, generating recommendations and full reports that automate work traditionally done manually.

Backed by leading Silicon Valley investors, including Andreessen Horowitz Speedrun, as well as MIT grants, Avenir has already gone live and is generating revenue with Fortune 500 customers. The team includes engineers from MIT, Apple, and Microsoft, alongside industry advisors with decades of experience.

A Foundation Built at MIT

Ariadne's leadership journey started early, shaped by her immigrant parents who supported her. Her father, a Turkish-Greek professor who teaches leadership and served in the U.S. Army, and her mother, an engineer and first-generation immigrant from Honduras, instilled in her a strong work ethic and a global perspective.

At MIT, Ariadne explored entrepreneurship through classes at the Sloan School of Management, winning hackathons with her co-founder, building AI products at Apple and Microsoft, and participating in accelerators like MIT delta v.

Before building Avenir AI, she honed her leadership skills by founding a nonprofit focused on AI and digital literacy in Latin America, named Astrania. The organization grew to hundreds of students, partnered with over 20 universities, and donated books about AI to university libraries and students.

That experience shaped how she leads today: with a strong focus on accessibility, impact, and building technology that actually serves people.

What Makes Avenir AI Unique

What makes Avenir AI unique is that it doesn't just show companies data—it shows the "so what" behind the spend.

Before Avenir, benefits teams would have to scan a 100-page medical claims file report from their data warehouse, which would take weeks of manual work. But with Avenir, that raw claims file is instantly turned into insights:

  • What are the top 3 cost drivers (like a spike in pharmacy spending)?

  • Explains why it's happening.

  • Recommends specific actions, such as switching vendors or adjusting plan design, along with the expected cost savings.

Accessibility is also a priority. At one Fortune 500 client, many manufacturing employees only speak Spanish and don't have access to computers. With Avenir, they can use voice-based, Spanish-language AI to understand and enroll in their benefits—something they couldn't do before.

Most tools stop at analysis. Avenir AI goes further by helping both companies and employees take action, which is what actually drives cost savings and better access to care.

Overcoming Challenges as Young Founders

One of the biggest challenges Ariadne faced was building trust as a young founder in a highly complex and regulated industry. In healthcare, especially at the employer level, companies don't just buy software—they trust you with sensitive data and critical decisions.

To earn that trust, she and her co-founder spent hundreds of hours learning directly from brokers, consultants, and benefits leaders. They shadowed workflows, attended industry conferences, and immersed themselves in the day-to-day challenges to truly understand how decisions are made.

Early on, they invested in achieving SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance—well ahead of what's typical for a startup at their stage. They secured data agreements, ran pilots, and delivered measurable value. Today, they are trusted by Fortune 500 companies supporting tens of thousands of employees.

Navigating Challenges as a Female Founder of Color

As a female founder of color, Ariadne acknowledges an added layer of challenge: you often feel like you have to prove yourself more than once.

She has addressed that by letting her technical work speak for itself while also using her platform as a founder to create visibility and space for other women.

Ariadne has spoken on panels at:

  • MIT

  • Andreessen Horowitz Speedrun

  • Women-in-tech and healthcare founder events

She openly discusses the realities and challenges women founders face. For her, resilience has meant staying close to the problem, earning trust through action, and continuing to show up—both in her work and for the communities she represents.

A Leadership Philosophy Rooted in Accessibility and Impact

Ariadne's leadership philosophy combines her MIT technical training, her experience building AI products at Apple and Microsoft, and her deep commitment to accessibility and impact.

She believes technology should actually serve people—not just generate reports. That belief is embedded in every product decision at Avenir AI.

Her approach focuses on:

  • Reducing complexity for benefits teams

  • Empowering employees with accessible tools

  • Driving measurable outcomes for employers

  • Building trust through transparency and action

Ariadne's Advice to Women Entrepreneurs

Treat early-stage building as a process of information gathering, not perfection. Your goal is to reduce uncertainty about the problem, the customer, and the path to value as quickly as possible.

Spend time understanding how your customers actually operate: how they make decisions, what constraints they face, and what 'good' looks like to them. This is often more important than the initial product itself.

Finally, don't underestimate your unique perspective. Being a woman, especially from an underrepresented background, often gives you access to problems and insights others overlook. If you take that seriously, it becomes an advantage.

For Ariadne Dulchinos, success is not just about building technology—it is about building trust, creating access, and proving that diverse founders can build world-class companies that solve real problems.
