In a time when children are surrounded by screens, speed, and constant stimulation, Rashmi Kulkarni has chosen a very different path. Her work slows things down — returning learning to stories, symbols, art, and values that have shaped Indian civilization for centuries.

Based in Belgaum, Karnataka, Kulkarni is the founder of Studio Tarang, a purpose-driven cultural and educational studio established in 2012. Studio Tarang works with children and young adults to make India’s knowledge systems relevant to modern life through creative visuals, storytelling, mythology, traditional games, and experiential learning.

Building Relevance, Not Nostalgia

Kulkarni’s approach is not about romanticising the past. It is about application. Studio Tarang designs learning modules, workshops, and DIY art kits that connect subjects like mathematics, history, languages, and moral education with Indian scriptures, folklore, and cultural practices.

The result is learning that feels rooted rather than rigid. Children are encouraged to think, create, question, and build confidence — qualities Kulkarni believes are being eroded by digital overload and passive consumption.

Over the past year, Studio Tarang has strengthened its identity as a cultural learning studio by expanding heritage-based programs and collaborating with educators, community groups, and cultural practitioners. Its creative portfolio now blends authenticity with modern design, making ancient wisdom accessible without diluting its depth.

Recognition Earned Through Purpose

Kulkarni’s work has been widely recognised across education and entrepreneurship circles. She has received the Indian Women Excellence and Leadership Award, presented by Shri

Nitin Gadkari, and has been named Edupreneur of the Year twice. She was also honoured with the India Star Youth Iconic Award for her contribution to child education.

Studio Tarang itself has been listed among India’s Top 12 Start-Ups by YourStory and featured in publications including Bangalore Insider, The Womanz, Yellow Giraffe, and E She.

Most recently, Kulkarni was nominated for the Great Companies 7th International Women Entrepreneur Awards 2025.

“Art and stories are not extras in education,” Kulkarni has shared. “They are how values, confidence, and identity are formed.”

A Quiet Form of Leadership

Kulkarni’s leadership is deeply intentional. Studio Tarang operates with a small, committed team, focusing on depth of impact rather than rapid expansion. Her success is measured not in scale, but in children who reconnect with learning — and with themselves.

In a world racing toward the future, Rashmi Kulkarni is reminding the next generation that wisdom already exists — it simply needs to be experienced, not downloaded.
