Entrepreneurship Reality Check

My advice is twofold: firstly, I think it is important that those of us in leadership positions use our voice to share the reality of entrepreneurship as it is a hard and lonely road for many, and especially for women. I encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to do their research, both when it comes to market research and the mathematics ‘is there a viable model?’. We sometimes glorify entrepreneurship without properly explaining about the sacrifices. Entrepreneurs should have support systems (friends & family) and mentors for balance and better odds. Once an entrepreneur is prepped and ready to go for their dreams, my advice is to stay in shape mentally and physically! Stamina is key! This is a marathon, not a race. Let’s go!!

Natalie Batlle, Founder, Juno House

Believe, Learn, Stay True

Believe in yourself, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, stay resilient through challenges, build a strong support system, continuously learn and adapt, take strategic risks, maintain work-life balance, stay true to your values, celebrate small successes, and stay passionate about your mission to succeed as a female entrepreneur.

Anita Katyal Rane, Founder, Proventus Education

Believe, Learn, Balance

Believe in yourself, seek mentorship, build a strong network, commit to continuous learning, maintain work-life balance, embrace challenges and failure as growth opportunities, and celebrate your achievements to succeed as an entrepreneur.

Simran Kedia, Founder, Alokya

Define Principles, Find Allies

Yes, find purpose and define your principles. Armed with this, chase your dreams, look at obstacles as through the lens of innovation and you will find exciting solutions that pave the way for new experiences. Be accessible and available to all who approach you, big clients or young students seeking guidance, surround yourself with people who care. Finally, always have an ally or business partner who understands the revenue model and keeps a sharp eye on earnings and expenses so that you can pursue your mission. Stop to consider what differentiates you from others who are in the same space and work hard to shine a spotlight on that differentiator. Make your brand work hard for you by infusing it with your collective or individual story.

Shanoo Bhatia, Founder, Eumo DesignIntelligence

Be Authentic and Confident

1) Stay true to yourself and your values — Every entrepreneurial journey is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. When starting a business, there are 1000 different ways to run a company, and 1000 different manager/leadership styles. Identify what resonates with you and strive to be your ‘authentic-self’. Don't be afraid to bring your unique perspective and voice into your business.

2) Be your own advocate — Negotiate confidently, speak up for what you deserve, and don't shy away from showcasing your accomplishments. Recognize your worth and communicate it effectively. Confidence and respectful communication are powerful tools that can take you a long way.

3) F*ck imposter syndrome — Have confidence in your abilities and believe that you have the skills and resilience to succeed as an entrepreneur. Trust your instincts and don't underestimate your potential.

Sarah Van Berkum, Founder, Luno

Inspire Your Team

Be ready to deal with struggle and work hard to find the right team, inspire them and they will inspire you and you will all conspire to be the very best in service.

Melissa Tello, Founder, The Studio BE

Get Clear on Vision, Embrace Growth

My advice to young future entrepreneurs is first get clear on a vision, second get help through mentors and other advocates who are committed to supporting your vision and 3rd, say "Yes" especially when you don't think you are ready, trust your intuition and lean in to discomfort because that is where you grow.

Cathy Fisher, Founder, Quistem, LLC

Embrace Risk, Follow Passion, Maintain Balance

Drawing inspiration from Mahima's example, young women entrepreneurs should embrace risk and learn from failures, build a supportive network, follow their passion, maintain balance in life, understand finances, develop resilience, use their unique perspective, self-advocate while supporting others, remain inquisitive with a thirst for knowledge, and define success on their own terms. These key principles guide the creation of a solid business and personal growth.

Mahima Tripathi, Founder, Saleint Marketing Agency

Know Your Why Before Starting

Know your Why! Know why you are doing what you are doing and also if the market really needs the product/service you are offering. Do not start until you have answered both of these.

Devyani Kapoor, Founder, Shuffling Suitcases

Believe, Embrace Challenges, Support Others

I advise young women entrepreneurs to believe in themselves, embrace challenges, build a strong support network, continuously learn and adapt, maintain work-life balance, stay resilient, and support other women. By following these principles with passion and purpose, they can create impactful, successful entrepreneurial journeys.

Deepti Gehani, Founder, Homes 4 Life Real Estate Broker LLC

Believe in Yourself, Balance Work and Life

All you need is to believe in yourself and follow your dreams with passion. Self confidence , courage and perseverance is important. Women are smartest god’s creation I think. They are versatile and capable of being home maker and entrepreneur simultaneously. They know work life balancing very well. Tell yourself that you are go getter and you would see yourself where you want to be.
