When Life Redefined the Mission
In 2023, Watson’s work took an unexpected turn. Diagnosed with incurable cancer after already surviving breast cancer years earlier, she found herself on the other side of the healthcare system—not as a registered nurse and educator, but as a patient.

Out of hospital corridors, scans, and long nights came The Serenity Project—a trauma-informed support platform for people living with cancer and chronic illness. While navigating treatment, Watson made another conscious choice: The Social Coach would not chase aggressive growth. Instead, it would stay open, stable, and human. That decision, Watson says, was as strategic as any expansion plan.
“The greatest achievement wasn’t growth,” she reflects. “It was showing up.”
