Lighting the Way in Fire Safety, One Building at a Time

Fire safety isn’t the first arena where you expect bold innovation — let alone inclusive leadership. But Priya Ajbani is quietly changing that. As Director of Monsher India Safety Equipment Pvt Ltd, she leads one of the oldest fire protection companies in India with a fresh, global, and people-first approach. Founded in 1975, Monsher had legacy. Under Priya, it now has momentum.

Building on Legacy, Leading with Purpose

Monsher was born out of vision, started by IIT graduate Mr. W.N.A. Nazareth in an era when fire safety barely registered as a household term. Fast forward 50 years, Priya Ajbani has taken the helm not to maintain status quo, but to reimagine it.

She introduced India’s first home-use fire rescue kit, formed exclusive global alliances, and rebuilt the company into one where 80% of the team is women — a rarity in an industry still largely male-dominated.

“We’ve always been in the business of saving lives,” Priya shares. “But now, we’re doing it with heart, innovation, and inclusivity at the core.”

Priya’s journey wasn’t a hand-me-down. It was earned. From working ground operations to facing gendered doubt, her climb was anything but conventional. “It took time to be taken seriously,” she admits. “But every no only fueled a louder yes.”

What Sets Monsher Apart

Fire safety is a game of precision, and Monsher plays it globally. Their tie-up with Marioff Finland brought high-pressure water mist systems to Indian infrastructure, now installed in airports, hotels, and skyscrapers.

Yet, their biggest differentiator? Products with international certifications tailored for Indian conditions. Monsher became the first Indian company to earn UL certification for flexible braided droppers and wet alarm valves manufactured in Korea. Through partnerships with Firetrace UK, Reliable Sprinkler USA, and Detectomat Germany, they’re not just meeting standards — they’re setting them.

"Safety cannot be compromised," says Priya. "So is progress. We strive to raise standards, not just meet them.”

Beyond Business: Inclusion by Design

Priya’s leadership is personal. As the mother of a neurodivergent child, she is fiercely committed to making Monsher a workplace where neurodiversity thrives.

This advocacy has found its voice through her public writings, often spotlighting her experiences balancing parenthood, leadership, and innovation. Monsher doesn’t just execute — it empowers.

“Inclusion isn’t just a value we talk about,” she reflects. “It’s a decision we make in every hire, every policy, and every opportunity we create.”

Redefining Respect in a Male Industry

The fire safety domain is still dominated by men. Priya had to earn her seat — not by

volume, but by value.

“There were rooms where I was asked why I was there,” she says. “I let the results do the talking.”

Today, she leads national operations with offices in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, and Bangalore. The company’s extended global network reaches Korea, France, Malaysia, and the US — building not just protection systems, but a legacy of excellence.

Fire Safety, Reimagined

Under Priya Ajbani, Monsher isn’t just protecting spaces — it’s reshaping what safety means in modern India. With urbanization, smart infrastructure, and the growing urgency of disaster preparedness, her vision blends technical precision with human empathy.

She’s not just leading a company. She’s leading a movement — one where fire safety isn’t invisible until disaster strikes, but an everyday right supported by world-class tools, talent, and trust.

Because when done right, safety makes no noise. And Priya Ajbani is making sure it never has to.
