Advice

Start where you are, with the skills you already have, and don’t wait for the “perfect” moment or background to enter a new industry. My own journey from software to land investment shows that you can learn the domain if you are willing to be a student again.

Choose integrity and expertise over shortcuts: focus on building a brand that people trust, even if it takes longer. Educate your customers, build communities like business networks and social platforms around your work, and invest in your own visibility through content, talks and networking.

Most importantly, give yourself permission to be the only woman in the room initially — your consistency will eventually open doors for many more.
